How does negotiation work?
When an artist enables negotiation, buyers can propose a different amount. The flow has up to 3 rounds.
Round 1
Buyer
Buyer sends an offer with context.
Artist
Artist accepts, rejects, or counteroffers.
Round 2
Buyer
Buyer responds to the counteroffer.
Artist
Artist decides again.
Round 3
Buyer
Final chance to agree.
Artist
If no agreement, request closes with no charge.
Tips for buyers
Explain your offer
"I have a limited budget but I love your work" works much better than only dropping a number.
Be realistic
A 50% offer is usually rejected. Offers around 70-85% with context have better odds.
Think in terms of value
Original handmade artwork takes time. Price reflects dedication, not only materials.
Reply quickly
Artists often receive multiple inquiries at once. Fast replies signal seriousness.
Tips for artists
Negotiation does not force acceptance
You can counteroffer closer to your target. You stay in control.
Explain your pricing
If you cannot reduce, explain why. Context increases trust.
Counteroffers are powerful
Instead of hard rejecting, suggest a middle point.
Tone matters
A polite rejection leaves a strong impression and can lead to future opportunities.
What happens if there is no agreement?
If there is no agreement after 3 rounds, the request closes automatically. There is no charge for either side.
Buyers can try another artist or revisit later. That's a normal part of the process.
Tip: If communication was good, buyers can still follow the artist and return later.
